Misty Hornsby-Odom
(Certified Family Nurse Practitioner) |
Family Medicine, Pediatrics, and Women's Health
Misty Odom, Certified Family Nurse Practitioner,is an integral part of our "total health concept" at Royse City Medical and Surgical Clinic/Tri-County Pain Management Centre and the backbone of our Family Practice Division. When you see Misty, you are not seeing a stranger. Misty knows no strangers. Misty is a homegrown and lives in Royse City with her husband and 2 children.
She is typical of a new wave of quality "mid-level care providers" who are being actively recruited by physicians nationwide. A result of the healthcare industry's effort to reform itself ahead of government intervention, mid-level providers such as Nurse Practitioners and Physicians Assistants can help increase the quality of patient care while holding down costs.
Family Nurse Practitioners, in particular, must acquire a significant amount of graduate level education beyond their basic Registered Nurse degree. Additionally, they must perform preceptorships within various medical fields, including adult, adolescent, pediatric, prenatal/women's health, as well as geriatrics. With the acquisition of prescriptive authority, Nurse Practitioners can work relatively independently.
Misty also holds a Masters of Science degree from Texas Women's University as a RN, Clinical Nurse. At Royse City Medical and Surgical Clinic/Tri-County Pain Management Centre, she serves as an adjunct to the Family Practice, assisting with patients as well as developing her own clientèle. Misty focuses her practice on Acute Care, Adult Chronic Disease Management,Women's Health, and Pediatrics. As a Family Nurse Practitioner, Misty performs examinations and diagnosis, recommends treatment, and prescribes appropriate medications. Her treatment guidelines are authored by Dr. Jones. Diagnostic and treatment trends are monitored by Dr. Jones, and patient case discussions are held on a regular basis.
